The Amish Got it Right
I am a Mennonite after all, so I'll comment briefly on the Amish school shooting. In short, they're making me proud to be an Anabaptist.
Say what you want about the Amish and their lack of spirituality, but they have truly lived out Jesus in a powerful way during this situation by showing virtually immediate forgiveness and even actively loving (that's nonresistance in action) the family of the man who killed their little girls.

I agree, Byran. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Amen to that Byran. I was so impressed with their testimony of forgiveness during this terrible tragidy.
oops tragedy :-)
yeah, that's just what I was thinking.
Absolutely right.
Ditto from Texas. I can only hope & pray that I could follow their example of forgiveness and trusting in God for answers at such an enormously painful time. I'm awed by their show of strength and faith. And I pray for their healing.
The two top stories from Lancaster of the last several months were those of Floyd Landis and the school shooting. In terms of Christian testimony with media coverage, I'd say it's Mennonites 0, Amish 1. Not that we're competing or anything... :)
*as I rise up to defend the Mennos*
To be fair, I would say that Landis doesn't claim to be a Mennonite, though there are obviously strong associations.
From the little I've read, I think ol' Floyd's got a pretty good case for complete innocence.
Amen. The Amish have given a powerful testimony. My husband however pointed out that it's probobly harder for them to truely forgive than it looks like it is, but it appears that they are doing incredibly well.
