I'm alive and God is teaching me to keep perspective when things go bad. And things have gone bad. But I'm doing well, because everything's going to be all right!
God doesn't show his love by making things rosy all the time. He has ways of getting at your weaknesses to try to make you more like Him, yes He does.

I was watching my niece this morning. She is trying with every fiber of her little being to crawl. She will be sitting there, and go forward, hands extended to meet the floor. She grunts and twists until her legs are in the proper position. She looks like she's ready to go. And then, plop. There she is, flat on her stomach. Sometimes she plays like that for a while and makes the most of her situation. Sometimes she cries and wants to be held, or at least set back "up". She has been belly-flopping for what seems like a long time now. I have to wonder what goes on in her mind as she tries and fails time and time again and never seems to get anywhere.
This morning, as I watched her struggle in her attempt to get someplace, my auntie instincts kicked in and I thought, "oh poor baby, I'll go help her." But I sat back and observed awhile longer, reliving the knowledge that the struggle is what makes her stronger. Through that struggle and effort, where it seems like she is all alone and no one is helping her, she is learning how to first crawl, and then eventually stand on her own two feet.
I think it's no different with us and God. Only, in this case, we are the infants. We are the ones who need the struggle to make us strong, to make us competent, to make us complete.
Sometimes I act like Taylor. Sometimes I try again. Sometimes I just lay there defeated. But only one will make me stronger. And indeed, the choice is up to me.
