Invocation

For those whose eyes would see / Render them in faith to thee / For all those seeking peace / In thine arms all strife shall cease.

If we seek we'll find; if we want peace we'll find it in the arms of Jesus.

Easy to say of course, difficult to dogmatically assert said promise in the face of conflicting testimonial evidence.

I had a hard time explaining this song when someone asked me about it awhile ago. Sort of miffed me, that I couldn't articulate better.

I love that song. Hey, I wish ya'll would sell a music book with the sheet music to your songs in it. I spent a LONG time one evening on the piano trying to re-create the music to 'Missed the Mark'. Finally I gave up, I couldn't figure out all 4 parts at the same time!!! I know full well I could NEVER figure out 'Invocation...' :( Lauren

Carrie asked me. I'm not real good with being put on the spot sometimes. If I can prepare for being put on the spot, I tend to handle it more gracefully.

Tell her to ask you again.

"Prepare for being put on the spot"? Now doesn't that make sense. How do you prepare? Yoga?

I love the haunting beauty of that song, and its peaceful resolution. Guess I never pondered the words too much, but then I generally pick up on words to a song last. I often can hear the music to a song, and the words will not even register with me. I just know that musically I like that song probably at least as well as "Sweet Fellowship"--and you AHQ members probably are aware of how much I like that song! Thanks for including them both on your latest album. Beautiful, that Invocation! And by the way, I wish sometimes I were more like those of you who immediately get "into" the words of a song... Anyway, sing on, boys, whenever you have the opportunity. I miss hearing you guys.
