Compromise
Randy and I, we finally had it out a few nights ago. I decided enough was enough, so when he insisted that the radio must be on as we were drifting (correction: HE was drifting) off to sleep, I got up and turned it off.
He got up and turned it on.
I got up and turned it off.
He got up and turned it on AND got the remote control.
I got up and unplugged it.
He got up, plugged it back in, and turned it on.
Tiring of this game, we talked it out and decided that every night we were each sleeping in our beds we would alternate, radio on, radio off.
Really, it's not a fair deal, because he'll be able to get a good night sleep every night, but half the nights I may not be able to comfortably drift off to sleep.
But then, it'll allow me a powerful opportunity to assert dominance over my mind.

Thank You, for that hillarious post it has made Merry laugh in the midst of her stressfull day. What a wonderful sound to hear her laugh after seeing her struggling through her day.

I'd say you already took that powerful opportunity in asserting dominance over your mind in that you think this was a compromise!
You got the shaft again bud. You need to assert dominance over your brother, not your mind!

By, what Sue was refering to was the death of the brother of a dear friend of mine. He was killed yesterday morning, and I spent part of yesterday with her. It has been a hard day and your ordinary, down-to-earth post took me delightfully by surprise. It's so weird to realize that while some parts of "normal" life stop, other parts continue on as if ignorant of the great loss. A large salmon is pulled from the river, but the river flows on as though the salmon never existed. Probably a dumb analogy, but ...whatever... that's how it feels.
grieving,
Merry
Merry,
Consider yourself hugged!

By, Very simple - buy Randy headphones, They work wonderfully.
So what's on the radio? My sister and I used to go to sleep listening to Roger Bennett's Midnight Meditations, and it was great to fall asleep with. However...if it's a talk show he's wanting to listen to.....
Way to exercise your assertiveness Randy! *sniff* I'm so proud.:) Oh, oops, this is Byran's site.
headphones when you are laying in bed? i don't think so. too uncomfortable. yeah tom i would say that by got the shaft, but don't tell him that cuz he thinks he got a good deal:)
