I'm listening to a Tapestry CD. What memories it brings back.

I also went to Chase Whitham's memorial service, and saw a bunch of childhood basketball teammates. My junior high coaches didn't even recognize me.

But it was a nice service, a little strange because I've never been to a Catholic one before. And sad too, I just can't imagine.

I can't put it into words.

...like discussions around restaurant tables, new standing arrangements, "Joshua Fit the Battle," Conrad's Joe Cool socks, the book drawings, and late-night corn dogs. And, and, and....

Oh yeah, the late night corn dogs were awesome! So was the rest of the trip, for that matter.

We are mortals, even the young. But it always seems so against the natural order of things when the young die. So final. So irreversible. The feelings so mixed. The loss so profound.
